Job Type Information Technology, Research, Strategy-PlanningThe Institute for Defense Analyses (IDA) is a not-for-profit corporation that operates three Federally Funded Research and Development Centers serving the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Unified Commands and Defense Agencies in addressing important national security issues, particularly those requiring scientific and technical expertise.Challenging career opportunities now exist in our Cost Analysis and Research Division (CARD) at IDA. Highly qualified individuals are sought, particularly self-starting professionals who have: Experience working with Planning, programming, and budgeting process in a military service headquarters, the Joint Staff, or the Office of the Secretary of Defense DoD Future Years Defense Program databases Academic and practical knowledge of Defense program and fiscal guidance development Military service force planning and program development methods, processes, and tools Methodologies and models used to estimate costs associated with changes in DoD forces Issues and methodologies associated with estimating the costs of personnel, operations, and support Your primary task will be to work with countries considered key US partners in the Global War on Terrorism to improve their national defense capabilities by strengthening their management of defense resources. You will work under DoD sponsorship with the senior leadership in foreign ministries of defense to provide assistance in evaluating, developing, and implementing improved management processes and analysis tools. An important objective of this work is the introduction of national security management and defense resource planning concepts that promote the effective use of defense resources in areas of high national prioirity, transparency, and control of resources by the duly appointed civilian leadership.

REQUIREMENTS
Candidates should have an advanced degree (MS/MA or Ph.D.), practical work experience in relevant areas, and the willingness to engage in significant international travel. Experience working with multicountry, interdisciplinary study groups is desired.
